June 15, 2015, Arlington Heights, IL…

The committal services for US Army Veteran Joseph M. Nevern, Date of Death 2/21/2001, who served in Korea will take place at 12:30 pm. At 1pm, Navy Veteran, George Edward Kratt, Date of Death 10/3/1983, will be honored, and at 1:30pm, Jerry D. Lowe, Date of Death 4/1/2007 who served in the US Army, will receive his honors. Presiding over the committal services will be Rev. Fr. Matt Foley, Pastor of St. James in Arlington Heights, and a Veteran himself who served as a US Army Chaplain, completing four tours of duty in Afghanistan.

The remains of these three servicemen have remained unclaimed, dating back to as far as 1983. “We never know the circumstances surrounding why the remains of a person may go unclaimed. In these particular circumstances, we do know that these gentlemen served their country and have earned the right and privilege to be honored by their branch of the military and all Americans, and their final place of rest be in a National Cemetery.  This hallowed ground is the most appropriate place to offer a reminder that these men and their service are not forgotten and that even with the passage of time, their service is appreciated by a grateful nation” stated Jackie Glueckert. She added, “Veterans services have always been a priority for the Glueckert family and where we can provide assistance in helping to ensure a veteran receives the full earned benefits of their service, we will always do our best to help”.

Veterans, active service members, their families and every member of the public is invited to these ceremonies to celebrate the lives and service of Mr. Nevern, Mr. Kratt and Mr. Lowe at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Wednesday June 24, starting at 12:30pm.
