Glueckert – 2018 Holiday Luminary Remembrance Service

View our 2018 Holiday Luminary Remembrance Service

We thank all of those who attended our Annual Holiday Luminary Remembrance Service. As has become our custom, we videotaped the service for families to have a chance to see it again, and for family members near and far who could not be in attendance with us. The Glueckert Family remains grateful to all of the families who entrust us with the care of your loved ones over generations of your family and ours. We also remain committed to sharing the joy of their memories with you every year at this wonderful gathering of people who help each other celebrate the lives of the people they cherished and continue to cherish.

We have 2 videos for you. One is a couple of minutes in length, highlighting the environs and the response to the service. The other is 55 minutes and contains the full service featuring all of the readings, songs, reflections and memorials. We hope these bring some comfort to you this season and throughout the entire year. We thank all of you for coming or viewing this service on our website or social media sites. We also thank our amazing staff of professionals here for their incredible participation in this service and in the service of all of the families we are privileged to take care of. Those professionals are every bit our family too.

View full service.

Please share these with any families you know who may not have been able to join us.

Glueckert Holiday Remembrance Recap 2015

Holiday Remembrance participants share their stories.

Often it takes some courage to return to the place where your loved one spent their final time with you. Annually, we have celebrated a Holiday Remembrance Service for our entire community to come together and share their experience and celebrate the lives of their loved ones together. We videotape the service to make it available to family, friends and loved ones who cannot be there for the experience in person. The combined strength of the community coming together and comforting and help the healing process continue is a truly awe inspiring experience. We’re honored to be able to honor all of our loved ones year after year and to provide a chance for the families who’ve entrusted us with the most treasured people in their lives to celebrate their continuing presence in their lives.

Holiday Remembrance Service Kare 9 Dogs

We had some extra special greeters at our Remembrance Service this year!

In addition to the Glueckert Family Members and our Professional Staff, the receiving line for our Holiday Remembrance Service included a quartet of members from the Kare 9 Military Ministry; namely Brutus, Blitz, Brandy and Susie.

Our theme this year of Comfort, Hope & Gift were carried out by our guest hosts in their special way, which may have included a “friendly lick hello” in return for the favor of a loving pet from attendees.

Lutheran Church Ministries of Northbrook operates the Kare 9 Military Ministry for Veterans and the handlers are also Veterans. Their mission is to strive to serve active-duty military, Veterans and their families at various Veteran events and venues in the region.

The Kare 9 Dogs have been with us here at Glueckert Funeral Home for our sponsored events all year, including our entry in the Arlington Heights Memorial Day Parade, our annual coach trip to Abraham Lincoln Cemetery we sponsor for Veterans and their families as well as our Holiday Remembrance Service.

“At our Holiday Remembrance Service, it can be very difficult for families who’ve lost loved ones recently. Upon entering and experiencing these beautiful dogs full of affection, it just seems to offer immediate comfort to our guests. We were so happy to have them as part of the service” said Jackie Glueckert, coordinator of the event.

While Susie is a bit of a Diva, all 4 of our guests agreed to a group photo!

Pre-Arrangements – Having everything already chosen was wonderful.

Tamara Kapcheck knew her mom had pre-arranged her funeral arrangements. It made things so much easier, right down to choosing her favorite flowers. Tamara and her husband have decided to pre-plan for themselves at Glueckert Funeral Home to make it easier on their children. In her words, “Pre-arangement was much easier for us. Everything being done was wonderful”.

Contact us with any questions you may have regarding pre-planning or at need services. We are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. 847-253-0168 orglueckertfuneralhome.com

“She looked beautiful, and that made us feel so special”

The Glueckert Family helped Barb Clement with the arrangements for both of her parents, her dad in 1989 and more recently her mom. Her husband, Dave, had a very special closeness to Barb’s mom especially during the course of a long and trying illness. Remembering the compassion of the Glueckert Family from 26 years ago, there was no question as to whom Barb’s mom, Gloria, would be entrusted to. What Barb remembers most is “how beautiful her mom looked”. We have a responsibility to ensure that the final remembrance is just that; beautiful. We strive to make that the memory for every family we serve.
